The Just Transition Institute of Greece (JTIG) is pleased to announce the approval of the proposal it submitted directly to the European Commission and the relevant ExchangeEU team, for participation in the 2nd cycle of the “EU coal regions exchange” program together with the region Ida Viru of Estonia and Sisak-Moslavina County of Croatia, with the support of Regional Association of Local Government of Western Macedonia.
In the next period & based on a specific methodology, the three regions will cooperate on issues related to the participation of the local government and the local society in the process of the Just Transition and entrepreneurship.
The approval comes as a continuation of the successful completion of participation in the 1st cycle of the program, in collaboration with the Midlands Region of Ireland and the participation of the Vice-Region of Just Transition and the University of Western Macedonia and confirms once again that JTIG is recognized by the relevant European bodies as an important actor in drawing up a development strategy in the context of the Just Transition.
The Just Transition Institute Greece is one of the core members of the Just Transition Platform (JTP) Working Group, for the drawing up of the Horizontal Stakeholder Strategy at EU level while participating in the HORIZON-CSA project entitled “COALition: Promoting innovation excellence in the transformation of coal regions into climate-neutral, growing economies”, led by the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH).
